They danced and they pranced
They jingled and jangled.
They knew they were purebreads
with feathers on their big heads!
They were snitching and bitching
and moaning and groaning.
They were rude and they were spying
and were always implying
in good and bad weather
that those with no feather
were never so clever!

Now, the Pink-Furred Snitches
Had heads with long feathers.
The Yellow-Furred Snitches
Wore none in any weather.
Those feathers weren't so big. They were really so small
You might think such a thing wouldn't matter at all.
But, because they had them, all the Pink-Furred Snitches
Would brag, "We're the best kind of Sneetch on the beaches."
With their snoots in the air, they would sniff and they'd snort
“We'll have nothing to do with the Non-Feathered sort!"
And whenever they met some, when they were out walking,
They'd hike right on past them without even talking.
