Sleeping with the Fishes is a slang term adopted by the american mafia crime world for a method of execution that involves weighting down a victim and throwing him or her into the water to drown. This was often (but mainly in movies) used by fixing victim´s feet in so called "Cement shoes" of concrete block or in tub or bucket filled with wet cement. When the cement hardens, the victim is thrown into a river, lake or the ocean. It could also be used for aiding in the disposal of a corpse already dispatched by other means so that the victim is never found if deposited in deep water. It was adopted and probably invented by the Gambino crime family in the U.S. prohibition era. So if you happen to encounter some unwanted poser characters, this is nice way to get rid of them.
