Cobra is a legendary space adventurer created by Buichi Terasawa in the late 1970s. A former space pirate feared across the galaxy, Cobra is famous for the Psychogun hidden inside his left arm, a devastating psychic weapon controlled by his mind. Charming, fearless, and full of humor, Cobra travels through space aboard his ship, the Tortuga, constantly searching for freedom, treasure, and dangerous adventures. Inspired by western heroes and secret agents like James Bond, Cobra became one of the most iconic science-fiction heroes in Japanese manga and anime.
At Cobra's side stands Lady Armaroid, also known as Armanoïde in the French version. This elegant android companion assists Cobra in nearly all of his missions. Calm, intelligent, and extremely loyal, Lady Armaroid balances Cobra's impulsive personality with strategy and discipline. Beneath her cold mechanical appearance lies a deep emotional connection to Cobra, making their relationship one of the most memorable aspects of the series. Skilled in combat and navigation, she is far more than a simple assistant — she is Cobra's closest ally.
Among Cobra's enemies is Sandra, the ruthless leader of the Snow Gorillas, a dangerous all-female pirate organization linked to the Pirate Guild. Sandra is ambitious, manipulative, and determined to eliminate Cobra while searching for Captain Nelson's hidden treasure, which conceals a powerful superweapon capable of changing the balance of the galaxy.
The Snow Gorillas are fierce warriors who live on an icy planet and obey Sandra without hesitation. Armed and highly trained, they confront Cobra in several memorable battles throughout the anime series of the 1980s. Their futuristic design, cold atmosphere, and relentless loyalty make them unforgettable antagonists.
