Name: Papaya
Scientific: Carica papaya

Notes: A small, sparsely branched tree, usually with a single stem growing from 5 to 10m, with spirally arranged leaves confined to the top of the trunk. The lower trunk is conspicuously scarred where leaves and fruit were borne. All plant parts contain latex in articulated laticifers. Native to tropical America, papaya originates from southern Mexico and Central America. Papaya cultivation is now nearly pantropical, spanning Hawaii, central Africa, India, and Australia.
