Give your Medieval Castle a strong and stylish entryway with this double-corbeled Gatehouse, complete with front and rear access ramps and fully-rigged portcullis and drawbridge!
The Medieval Castle Gatehouse consists of two modular 5-layer crenelated towers, with rigged side and rear doors, flanking a 3-level central arched gateway passage over ten feet thick. And as always, each tower level is a separate element, allowing you to add, remove, rotate or replace each piece to create just the scene you need!
Of course, the centerpiece to any decent castle access gate is its moat and drawbridge. Here, a sturdy oaken plank bridge crosses a broad ten-meter span, fully-rigged with a 60-bone set of chains that wrap around a heavy dual-handled winch mounted up on the parapet. Selecting either the Bridge itself, or the axle of the Winch will give you a dial labeled "Raise Drawbridge" that is rigged to do just that, cutting off the castle entry to unwanted guests.
A smaller, non-rigged winch sits inside the upper level passage, with a separate oak and iron portcullis just beneath, rigged to slide up through a narrow slot in the floor.
Finally, to complete the scene, a tileable 4-layer Moat Landscape is provided, with separate surface displacement for each layer and a morphable water level plane. The landscape can be tiled to extend your set, and is designed to be compatible with the Multi-Layer Landscape System for even more versatility, allowing you to add curves and corners to your moat.
As a last bit of medieval decoration, a set of hanging Swallowtail Banners and multiple instanced sets of Rosebud Braziers are added to enhance the castle approach, as well as a handful of wall torches and rustic ladders for interior enhancement and practical upper level access via the rigged trap doors.
A richly carved wooden balcony has also been added to the rear side of the Gatehouse for those rare, but required, informal appearances by the Lord and Lady of the house.
