For a while now, customers have been requesting a MMA-themed pose pack consisting of basic strikes, kicks, knees etc. I have purchased similar pose packs in the past and have usually ended up disappointed. Often, I encounter poses that do not look very natural or the pack's content is not flexible enough to be used more than once or twice.
With this in mind, I set out to create a pose pack that can be used by both hobbyists as well as professional/commission artists who expected to turn out high-quality work in a minimal amount of time, and do it again, and again, and again...
Features:
Natural Poses - If you are looking for exaggerated, cartoony fight poses, then I do not recommend purchasing this pack. I've worked hard to make each pose look natural, yet dynamic and balanced from all angles to not take away from your scene's realism. I've also spent a lot of time trying to eliminate the creases that can occur when rotating gen 4 figures' collars and shoulders.
Unpaired Poses - In the past, my boxing themed poses have come in attacker/victim pairs. This is not the case with the "MMA Starter Set." Individual attacker and reaction poses are provided and can be easily mixed and matched with one another (see promotional images). I wasn't sure if this was the right path to take until I started using the poses myself, but in the end, I have been able to use the unpaired poses far more frequently than my older, paired boxing poses simply because they are more flexible and can be fit to a greater variety of attacks.
Multiple Fighting Stances - Five fighting stances are included with five different upper body partial poses per stance. These are perfect if your characters have different fighting styles. I've also found them very useful as transitional poses.
Mirrors Included - Mirrors for every single pose are included for convenience. Customers have mentioned manually mirroring every pose they purchase because they have a left-handed character. I don't want you to have to do that. Plus, having the mirrored poses handy makes it much easier to mix and match attacker victim poses.
Pose Content Includes (see promotional images):
15 Strikes
15 Reactions
5 Fighting Stances (+5 upper body options per stance)
5 Kick Attacks
5 Knee Attacks
5 Blocks
5 Hand poses
Plus mirrors for every pose given above!
Q: This is an MMA pose pack, right? So why no mounts, chokes or other submission holds?
A: Renderosity enforces a pose pack size limit. So I am planning to create expansion packs containing paired poses for specific MMA techniques: Mount pack, choke pack, arm/leg lock pack etc.
Q: Why does this pack cost $15.99?
A: This is the minimum price Renderosity allows for pose packs of this size/content. So you are getting as much as possible for the lowest cost allowed.
Q: Will these poses work with M4?
A: I do not recommend it. M4's shoulder and leg motion are quite a bit different from V4, meaning that you will need to do a lot of tweaking to get the pose looking natural again. A dedicated M4 pose pack is available in the market place.
Other Notes:
My testers brought this up so I wanted to mention it here: There is an issue in some versions of Poser where left hand poses in .hd2 files will not be correctly applied unless you temporarily turn the figure's limits off first. After the hand pose is applied, limits can be turned back on, and the pose will hold. This only affects the hand poses in the pack.
