According to the Book of Genesis, was an enormous tower built at the city of Babel (Babylon) at the beginning of Nimrod's Kingdom. However, the Tower of Babel was not built for the worship and praise of God, but was dedicated to the glory of man. While many depictions are based on later renaissance depictions, this depiction is more similar to the actual Temple of Marduk - with its enameled and gilt walls. Inside the highest chamber is a sacrificial room - yet one in which the priest is known to be carrying on his own ambitions.
