Notes: Indigenous to South Africa, this plant is an invasive species and noxious weed in many other parts of the world, including the United States (particularly coastal California), Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. It is one of the most wide spread weeds in the world, and once established, it is very difficult to control. It can be found in almost any terrain, including open woodland, fields, marshes, as well as many urban settings such as vacant lots, lawns, road sides, pavement cracks, etc.
