Facial Features:
The woman's face, though partially covered, displays symmetry and elegance. Her most striking feature is a deep red blindfold made of fabric that appears soft yet sturdy, tied securely at the back of her head. It completely conceals her eyes, accentuating the sharp bridge of her nose and the refined contours of her cheekbones. Her lips are set in a calm, focused expression, bearing a natural hue. At the center of her neck, just above the base, sits a small, circular red tattoo featuring an intricate pattern.
Attire:
She wears a modern kimono-style outfit designed for freedom of movement. The upper garment is a crimson, cross-over style top made of a linen-like textured fabric, featuring loose, short sleeves. A wide black obi (belt) is cinched tightly at her waist, highlighting her figure; it is adorned with additional red ties that create a layered effect. Below the belt, she wears a black pleated mini-skirt that ends above the knee, allowing for ease of movement.
Tattoos:
Both her right and left arms feature full-sleeve tattoos in black and red. The tattoo on her left arm displays traditional Japanese-style dragon and flame motifs, while her right arm bears a more abstract pattern with deep red accents. Her most impressive tattoo is on her right leg, which features an intricate full-leg sleeve design. The central image on her right thigh is a detailed *kitsune* (fox) head with striking red eyes, surrounded by water and floral patterns in shades of deep red, gray, and black that extend down to her ankle. Her left leg is free of tattoos on the upper thigh, revealing her clear skin.
Accessories:
She wears black and red fingerless tactical gloves on her right hand. On her left wrist, she wears several black and red beaded bracelets alongside a wide black cuff. High on her left thigh, just below the hip, is a black thigh belt featuring a metal buckle and a small tag bearing faint Japanese characters (such as ""), accompanied by a thin black fabric cord wrapped around the leg multiple times. She also wears dark red and black ankle wraps paired with open-toed, black-strapped sandals (modern *geta* style).
Weapon:
She grips a katana (Japanese sword) firmly with both hands. The sword features a dark red hilt (*tsuka*) wrapped in black cord and a red handguard (*tsuba*). Both the scabbard (*saya*) and the visible portion of the blade display a striking, glowing dark red hue, hinting at a unique material or coating. She holds the weapon in a stable combat-ready stance.
Posture:
She stands in an upright combat stance, feet planted shoulder-width apart for stability. Her weight is evenly distributed. Her posture radiates confidence, discipline, and alertness, with both hands firmly controlling the sword in front of her body.
Character Story: Ning-Kono
Ning-Kono is not a *ronin* (masterless samurai), but rather a guardian of a forgotten clan: the "Akuma no Tsuki" (Demon Moon) Clan. Exiled from civilization due to their ancient mystical beliefs, the clan lives in the shadows, guarding the gateway to the spirit world.
Ning-Kono—whose eyes remain permanently covered by a crimson cloth following the "Inner Sight" initiation ritual—does not perceive the world through physical sight. Instead, she senses it through pulses of energy and the "scent" of spirits. She is a "Spirit Listener," a warrior capable of detecting the presence of restless spirits or *oni* (demons) before they fully manifest. The blindfold she wears is a mark of respect for her ancestors' sacrifices and a vow never again to rely on worldly sight. The *kitsune* (fox) tattoo on her right leg—named "Kenji"—is a living tattoo; it is not merely ink, but a fox spirit bound to her. Kenji acts as a guide and sentinel, often granting her spiritual visions in symbolic form. The dragon tattoo on her arm marks the temple's guardian dragon—now long dead—whose spiritual power she has "inherited."
The crimson blade in her hand is no ordinary katana. It is "Akaiame" (Red Rain), forged from meteoric metal steeped in the blood of the *oni* she has slain. The blade never dulls and deals death only to malevolent spirits; it glows crimson whenever she draws near to potent spiritual energy. A thigh strap holds a talisman inscribed with a protective spell, used to secure Akaiame when she is not in battle.
One night, the tranquility of their secluded village was shattered. A strange black mist began to creep forth from the spirit forest, and the elders sensed that a gateway to the spirit realm was being forced open. Ning-Kono, having detected the tremors of energy hours beforehand, was already prepared.
She stood upon the main path, Akaiame…e battle raged through the night. By morning, Ning-Kono stood in the center of the silent village, shrouded in the remnants of the dissipating mist. Akaiame had returned to its sheath, yet it still glowed faintly. She was unharmed, though utterly exhausted. The Akuma no Tsuki clan was safe—for now. She was Ning-Kono, the eyeless guardian who would forever maintain the balance between the two worlds.
Drawn, the blade radiated a terrifying red glow. Though blind, she "saw" everything: the forms within the spirit mist, the potent *oni* aura lurking nearby, and her fox spirit, Kenji, prowling the ground around her and pointing toward the threats.
"You shall not pass," she said, her voice calm and steady. "The Akuma no Tsuki clan still has a guardian."
With a swift, almost imperceptible motion, she swung Akaiame, unleashing a wave of red energy that sliced through the mist. It was not merely a physical fight; it was a battle of wills. Through her heightened senses, she tracked every movement of the *oni* within the fog. Kenji, at her right heel, let out a silent cry, warning her of an attack from the flank. Ning-Kono leapt aside, dodging a massive blow from an *oni*'s claw, and instantly retaliated with a thrust to the chest; her red blade pierced the evil spirit, purifying it with mystical fire.
