The Kalesa is a two-wheeled horse-drawn carriage introduced in the Philippines in the 18th century. It served as the main mode of transportation until it was phased out in the mid-20th century. Today, it caters to tourists in select tourist destinations such as Intramuros and Vigan.
This modern take on the Kalesa is upgraded with the latest advancements:
- Powered by a one-horsepower engine with a really strong kick. Runs on organic fuel.
- Spacious air-cooled cabin provides riding comfort.
- Steel reinforcements on a traditionally wooden chassis improves safety. Safety handrails also included.
- Infotainment provided by a kutsero (coachman) includes navigation data, history trivia, fun facts on places and people, and the latest events and gossips (aka kwentong kutsero).
