This model of tracked motorcycle was invented in 1937-1938 by J Lehaitre from Paris, for off-road movement. Instead of wheels, it used a belt similar to a
tractor and therefore Lehaitre named his invention as tractor-cycle. According to its creator, the tractor-cycle should be more suitable than a motorcycle
for riding in mountainous terrain and should cope with steep climbs and uneven ground. But imagine for a moment that it was all different. Lehaitre got into
the service of the French army and after the surrender of France, this machine was used with great success by soldiers of the Free French state, especially in
Africa. Here, the excellent properties of the tracked motorcycle were noticed by the British soldiers and later, after landing in Sicily, also by the Americans.
After the end of the second world war, a real cult was created around this tractor-cycle. Dozens and hundreds of clubs were formed, and every young boy wanted to
have his own tractor-cycle. And, of course, to realize in it his own adventurous ideas and dreams and personality. Lehaitre was often tuned and perfected by young
people, supplemented by non-standard components and personal original paintjobs, including pinups and names, as was the case during the war with planes and tanks.
