Young-hee, or "The Doll" is an iconic figure from the popular Netflix series Squid Game. She is a massive animatronic doll that plays a pivotal role in the first game, "Red Light, Green Light". Her primary function is to detect motion using her motion sensors. If a player moves after she says "Red Light" they are eliminated.
The doll has a distinct appearance, characterized by her pigtails, a bright orange pinafore dress over a yellow shirt, and an eerie, lifeless gaze. Her presence in the series became an instant symbol of the tension and stakes in the games. Interestingly, her design is inspired by a Korean schoolgirl character often found in textbooks during the 1970s and 1980s.
