You need to move the ax in the Scene window so that its parent object is the right hand. And the left hand should become the parent object for the shield. Then you need to select Genesis 8 Female and apply the pose.
Limits should be "on" (Edit/Figure/Limits/Limits on (Rotation)). Limits should be "on" before loading the scene/shape and applying the pose.
