Period: Late Carboniferous to Early Cretaceous. 323.4 to 113 million years ago.

Notes: An extinct prehistoric plant whose foliage resembled that of modern ferns, but which reproduced by means of seeds. The earliest fossil evidence for this plant come from the late Carboniferous. They flourished throughout the Permian and declined during the Mesozoic Era and had disappeared during the Cretaceous Period.
