Although Elves are considered to be naturally magical, Elven wizards are a distinct breed because they pursue magical forms outside of what is considered the magical path of each individual Elven house - hence Elven wizards form a distinctive house of their own - the House of the Raven, after a creature of supernatural powers. Wizards merely sit down in the seat of power, and can guide a ship without any crew at all - further, devices installed upon the ship can act as extensions of the wizard's unique power. This elven wizard ship has wizard's hands, which amplify and expand upon the streams of magical energy a wizard can use.
