Basted won't be Thanksgiving this year! He comes with the shotgun the Pilgrim tried to use and the Pilgrim's hat.
Basil the Basted: Turkey Trickster’s Thanksgiving Tale
Basil the Basted, plump and proud,
Meant for roasting, crisp and loud,
Thanksgiving’s supper, golden gleam—
The star of every feast and dream.
But lo! A pilgrim, musket drawn,
Cackled wild at dawn’s first yawn:
“Wascally wabbits!” he exclaimed,
Aim at Basil, target claimed.
Feathers shook with nervous fear,
Yet Basil plotted mischief near.
With nimble step and cunning eye,
He watched the pilgrim aim so high.
Then quick as gravy on a plate,
Basil tripped him — oh, what fate!
The pilgrim tumbled in a knot—
His musket twisted—an unlucky spot!
Bang! The shot went wild astray;
The pilgrim clutched his wound that day.
Basil danced in turkey glee,
Claimed the pilgrim’s hat—with glee spree!
Brave Basil despite his fate,
Turned the tables on his plate.
No roasting now — he pranced instead,
A turkey hero crowned with dread.
In kitchen tales where legends grow,
Of who escaped and who did throw—
Remember Basil bold and spry:
The basted bird who’d never die!
So raise your forks to turkey’s feat,
The comedy none can beat.
For bravery comes in feathers bright—
And Basil’s dance lights up the night!
