Period: Middle to Late Devonian. 393 to 358 million years ago.
Notes: Extinct plant of the Devonian period which had early fern-like/horsetail-like characteristics but which did not have leaves. The combination of morphological and anatomical features suggests that this plant may have given rise to all subsequent ferns and horsetails.
