All parts are built with combined 3d tools like Bryce, Vue and Daz Studio. Then I transferred all parts in OBJ and put the model together in Daz Studio. The textures are made in Photoshop and then transferred to all parts in Daz Studio.
About:
The Jerrold 450 (often seen as 450i) was a model of vintage General Instrument cable television (CATV) converter box, popular in the 1980s and 90s for accessing premium cable channels, featuring early on-screen displays (OSD) for channel selection and programming, offering a significant upgrade from basic receivers, and marking a step towards modern digital features for cable subscribers before the widespread shift to digital TV.
Key Features & Context:
- Manufacturer: Made by Jerrold Electronics, a significant name in cable TV technology.
- Function: It was a set-top box that unscrambled premium cable channels and provided enhanced user features.
- On-Screen Display (OSD): A major selling point was its advanced OSD, allowing users to see channel numbers and potentially other info directly on their TV screen, a big deal back then.
- Types: Variants like the 450i offered more features, including pre-programmed satellites for C/Ku band (for satellite users) and digital sound.
- Legacy: These boxes are now considered vintage electronics, often found on resale sites like eBay, representing early cable TV experiences before digital cable and streaming.
