Daz to ComfyUI Bridge
In simplest terms it's a bridge to export your Daz renders into ComfyUI, via a daz script.
This will render locally and requires no AI tokens
It just a simple way to get your Daz renders into ComfyUI and run an image to image workflow.
Product Requirements Daz studio 4.2 and above
Tested in both Daz studio 4.2 and 6.0 and ComfyUI V0.43.0
Product List:
Daz to ComfyUI.zip Daz Script
daz_live_preview.zip ComfyUI Custom Node
Json files
Daz_ComfyUI_LivePreview.json
SDXL_Pixelart.json
SDXL_Pixelart2.json
Hardware Requirements:
At least a GPU with 8 Gig, one that can render in daz then stay open and render in ComfyUI
Notes:
daz_live_preview node
will replace the load image node.
So you can attach it to any workflow with an Load Image node.
Which gives you a greater range of models you can use.
All you have to do is keep exporting images from Daz Studio via the script.
SDXL_Pixelart.json
SDXL_Pixelart2.json
With need you to down load Checkpoints and Loras
SDXL_Pixelart2.json will have links to some models
and this is the best one to use as it automatically makes the prompt
for you
if you are missing nodes goto the ComfyUI Manager
and install missing custom nodes
and restart

DAZ TO COMFYUI BRIDGE
Installation & User Guide
By Midnight Stories
Thank you for choosing Daz to ComfyUI Bridge!
Send your finished Daz Studio render directly to ComfyUI, then enhance it
using your own local AI models, prompts and LoRAs. The included live-preview
node shows your latest render automatically, so there is no need to browse
through a long image list each time.
The bridge transfers your image. Your ComfyUI workflow performs the AI
enhancement when you click Run.
1. BEFORE YOU START
You will need:
- Daz Studio and a working ComfyUI installation on the same Windows computer.
- An installed AI checkpoint suitable for your ComfyUI workflow.
- The supplied Daz script and ComfyUI live-preview node.
The bridge has been tested by the creator with Daz Studio 6 and 4.24.
These instructions cover ComfyUI-EZI-Desktop; the custom node belongs in
the active ComfyUI installation's custom_nodes folder.
For the supplied starter workflow, use a standard SDXL checkpoint.
Models and LoRAs must be installed separately.
The bridge itself does not use paid generation tokens. Keep generation
local by using local models and workflows without paid cloud/API nodes.
Important:
- Start ComfyUI before sending a render.
- Use PNG renders with the live-preview node.
- This version connects locally using localhost or 127.0.0.1.
- Sending an image does not automatically start AI generation.
2. INSTALL THE DAZ SCRIPT
1. Open an existing Daz content library folder in Windows Explorer.
Use a library already listed in Daz Studio.
2. Inside that library, create this folder:
Scripts/Midnight Stories/ComfyUI Bridge
3. Copy this file into the folder:
Send_Daz_Render_to_ComfyUI.dsa
4. If you are using a script icon, place its PNG beside the script and
name it exactly:
Send_Daz_Render_to_ComfyUI.dsa.png
Enable filename extensions in Windows Explorer to check the full name.
5. In Daz Studio, open the Content Library pane and browse to:
DAZ Studio Formats > Your Library > Scripts >
Midnight Stories > ComfyUI Bridge
Refresh the folder if the script is not visible.
6. Right-click the script and select Create Custom Action.
Follow any menu-placement prompt. You can then launch the script
conveniently from Daz's Scripts menu.
You can also run the script directly from the Content Library.
Do not place the script in Daz Studio's plugins folder.
3. INSTALL THE COMFYUI NODE
1. Extract Daz_Live_Preview_Update.zip if it is still zipped.
2. Find the ComfyUI installation that your launcher actually runs.
If you have several installations, make sure you use the correct one.
3. Open its custom_nodes folder.
4. Copy the complete daz_live_preview folder into custom_nodes.
The final file locations should look like this:
ComfyUI/custom_nodes/daz_live_preview/__init__.py
ComfyUI/custom_nodes/daz_live_preview/js/live_preview.js
Avoid an extra nested daz_live_preview folder. The __init__.py file
must sit directly inside the first daz_live_preview folder.
5. Fully stop and restart ComfyUI through your launcher.
Then refresh the ComfyUI browser page.
6. Double-click an empty area of the ComfyUI canvas and search for:
Daz Render (Live Preview)
No additional Python packages are required beyond ComfyUI's existing
dependencies. Refreshing the browser alone is not enough to install
the node; the ComfyUI server must restart.
4. CHOOSE YOUR WORKFLOW
OPTION A: USE THE INCLUDED STARTER
1. Open ComfyUI and drag Daz_ComfyUI_LivePreview.json onto the canvas.
2. In Load Checkpoint, choose an installed standard SDXL checkpoint.
3. Leave the two optional LoRA loaders bypassed for your first test.
4. Enter a positive prompt describing your scene and the result you want.
Use the negative prompt for unwanted features.
5. Start with the supplied sampler settings:
Steps: 24
CFG: 6
Sampler: dpmpp_2m
Scheduler: karras
Denoise: 0.25
6. Keep the seed fixed while comparing changes.
These are starting settings for a conventional SDXL checkpoint.
Turbo, Lightning and other specialised models may need different settings.
Flux and other model families may need a different workflow.
The JSON is a workflow file. Open it in ComfyUI; do not install it in
custom_nodes.
OPTION B: REPLACE LOAD IMAGE IN YOUR EXISTING WORKFLOW
If you already have an image-to-image workflow you like, you can keep it.
1. Save a backup of your workflow.
2. Add the Daz Render (Live Preview) node.
3. Find the Load Image node that currently supplies your source render.
4. Connect the live node's IMAGE output to the same input that Load Image
was connected to. In a basic workflow, this is VAE Encode > pixels.
5. If the old Load Image node had more than one IMAGE connection,
reconnect all of those destinations.
6. If the old node's MASK output was connected, move that connection to
the live node's MASK output too. Otherwise, leave MASK unused.
7. Remove the old Load Image node and save the updated workflow.
Keep your existing model, prompts, LoRAs and sampler connections.
If your image normally passes through a resize or other processing node,
keep that stage connected.
Simply installing the custom node does not update the standard Load Image
thumbnail. You must use Daz Render (Live Preview) in its place.
5. SEND YOUR FIRST RENDER
IN DAZ STUDIO
1. Set up your scene, camera, materials and lighting.
2. For your first SDXL test, set the render size to 1024 x 1024.
3. Render the current frame and let it finish.
4. Leave the render window open.
5. Run Send Daz Render to ComfyUI.
6. Enter the local address used by your running ComfyUI installation.
A common example is:
Use the port shown by your own installation. Do not add a page path.
7. Check that the source is a PNG, then click Accept.
8. If a Save Last Render dialog appears, save the render as PNG.
The script uses this fallback when it cannot access the render directly.
9. Wait for the transfer-success message.
IN COMFYUI
1. Return to the ComfyUI tab.
2. Check the Daz Render (Live Preview) thumbnail.
It should refresh within approximately two seconds while the tab
is visible.
3. Click Run or Queue Prompt to generate your enhanced image.
4. Review the result. The supplied starter saves images to ComfyUI's
output location using the Daz_Enhanced filename prefix.
PNG REQUIREMENT
The live node reads this exact bridge filename:
DazBridge_LastRender.png
Although the Daz script can transfer JPG and WebP files, those formats
will not update this PNG-only live node.
If the script's success message mentions selecting a file in Load Image,
you can ignore that instruction when using Daz Render (Live Preview).
The live node automatically uses the bridge PNG.
6. EVERYDAY USE
For a new scene or camera angle:
1. Wait for any current ComfyUI generation to finish.
2. Render in Daz.
3. Run the send script.
4. Check that the live thumbnail shows the new render.
5. Click Run in ComfyUI.
For another variation of the same image, change your prompt, seed,
denoise or LoRA settings and run ComfyUI again. You do not need to
re-render in Daz unless the source scene changes.
Each transfer replaces the same bridge input file. Keep separate copies
of source renders you want to retain.
7. UNDERSTANDING THE LIVE NODE
Think of Daz Render (Live Preview) as an image receiver.
It reads the latest PNG sent from Daz and refreshes its preview.
It replaces Load Image, but does not choose a model, resize your image
or start generation.
IMAGE: The source picture used by your workflow.
MASK: A mask based on the source image's transparency. It is not an
automatic subject-selection mask. Leave it unused for basic enhancement.
In the basic starter workflow, VAE Encode converts the source image into
the input used by the sampler. An unrelated Empty Latent Image node does
not set the dimensions of this source image.
8. SUGGESTED SDXL RENDER SIZES
Start at approximately one megapixel:
Composition Width x Height
Square 1024 x 1024
Portrait 832 x 1216
Landscape 1216 x 832
Tall portrait 768 x 1344
Wide landscape 1344 x 768
Choose the same aspect ratio in Daz that you want in your final image.
These are SDXL starting points, not requirements imposed by the bridge.
Follow your model's own guidance when using a different model family.
For larger final images, try enhancing at these sizes first and then
upscaling. A 2048 x 2048 image contains four times as many pixels as
1024 x 1024 and requires more processing resources.
Daz and ComfyUI can both use GPU memory. Avoid running an Iray viewport
render while generating in ComfyUI. If memory is limited, save your Daz
scene and close Daz after a successful transfer. ComfyUI keeps the
transferred image available.
9. ADJUSTING THE ENHANCEMENT
DENOISE
Denoise controls how much freedom the AI has to change your source.
Try these comparison ranges:
0.15-0.25 Subtle changes; a useful starting range for preserving detail.
0.30-0.40 More noticeable changes.
0.50+ Greater reinterpretation of the original render.
Start at 0.25 and change one setting at a time. Keep the seed fixed when
comparing settings. Results vary by model, prompt and scene.
AI enhancement can change faces, hands, clothing, shapes and materials.
Check these carefully when the final image needs to represent a product
accurately.
LORAS
Once the basic workflow is working:
1. Select a LoRA compatible with your checkpoint's model family.
2. Enable its loader. In the supplied workflow, use the node's
right-click menu > Mode > Always.
3. Follow the LoRA author's recommended strength and trigger words.
If no strength is specified, 0.5-0.6 is a reasonable test starting point.
4. Test one LoRA before adding another.
LoRAs connect through the model and text-conditioning parts of the
workflow, not directly to the IMAGE output.
10. TROUBLESHOOTING
THE NODE DOES NOT APPEAR
Check that the folder is in the active installation's custom_nodes
directory with no extra nesting. Fully restart ComfyUI, refresh the
browser and check the startup log for import errors.
THE OUTPUT CHANGES BUT THE THUMBNAIL DOES NOT
Make sure the workflow uses Daz Render (Live Preview), rather than the
standard Load Image node.
THE LIVE NODE IS WAITING FOR A PNG
Send a PNG render successfully. Confirm the script and browser connect
to the same ComfyUI installation and port.
THE SCRIPT CANNOT CONNECT
Start ComfyUI and check the local address and port in the script.
This version supports a local connection on the same computer.
THE IMAGE ARRIVES BUT NOTHING RENDERS
Click Run or Queue Prompt. Image transfer does not start generation.
THE RESULT CHANGES TOO MUCH
Lower denoise, simplify your prompt and temporarily bypass LoRAs.
COMFYUI RUNS OUT OF MEMORY
Reduce image dimensions and release Daz's GPU memory. Save your scene
before closing Daz. Larger models and extra workflow stages may need
more memory.
THE OUTPUT HAS THE WRONG SHAPE
Check for resize/crop nodes and confirm the sampler receives the
encoded source image rather than an Empty Latent Image.
Enjoy creating!
