Matsumoto Castle

Matsumoto Castle is a National Treasure of Japan.

This castle begins as a Fukashi castle which the Ogasawara clan built in 1504 during the Sengoku period (Warring States period). This was attacked by Shingen Takeda of Kai province and fell in 1550, therefore the Ogasawara left. It became a strategic foothold for the Shinano capture of Takeda for the next 32 years, and has been governed by Koshu style.

This is also known as "Crow Castle" because the walls are black lacquered clapboards compared to the white outer walls of the Himeji Castle. It is a Castle which looks totally Armored.
