On the night of the Summer Solstice in Northern Britannia a witch was awoken by a single clap of thunder. She rose from her bed and went outside to see what had happened as something certainly must have happened she knew. In the middle of her tiny yard she saw a chook. Hmm she thought I will have a good dinner tonight as she chased the chook into her chicken pen. The next night came and the witch readied a pot of water and placed it over freshly stocked logs in her fireplace. She went to her chicken pen and grabbed the chook by the neck. The chook looked thoughtfully at the witch and said, "Mamm you do na want to eat me for I am a magic chook." The witch was so surprised she threw the chook down. "What witchery is this?" the witch cried. The chook began chasing her all around her yard. Terrified the witch got on her broom and left that area forever. The number of hexes and curses went down to nothing in the town at the bottom of the hill. The chook took over the witch's house, tended her garden and lived a very long and magical life.
