Period: Late Carboniferous. 330 to 300 Million Years Ago.

Notes: A Late Carboniferous seed fern. Unlike modern ferns, this plant produced seeds similar to other plants such as conifers. Seeds ferns flourished in prehistoric times, but have no modern day representatives. Although this species was wide spread in the Carboniferous deposits of Europe, there is limited understanding of its final form, with the placement of the seeds, and other details, based upon informed, scientific conjecture.
