Hashimoto Capsule Hotel – Cyberpunk Capsule Hotel for Daz Studio

Cheap beds, tight quarters, a long night ahead. Hashimoto Capsule Hotel is a utilitarian sleeping hall for cyberpunk and sci-fi scenes – a budget hotel for ordinary people in the city, or crew quarters on a ship. A block of 16 rounded capsules stands in the middle of the hall, framed by two aisles and walls of lockers. Every capsule is fully furnished inside and has a sliding door, and the status lights show which capsules are taken. The whole hall is lit by its own emissive surfaces (ceiling lights, floor guide lines, capsule lights, screens and status LEDs), so it renders out of the box without extra lights. For character renders, you may want to add a few extra lights. The scene loads clean, in blue; material presets switch it to red or to a grimy, graffiti-covered look.

Please note: this is a heavy scene. Over 1.6 million polygons, 842 nodes and 161 texture files up to 4096 4096 px (434 MB download). Expect longer loading times and high memory use; you will probably need a render machine that can handle it, ideally with a strong NVIDIA GPU and plenty of VRAM. Measured VRAM use while rendering in Iray: about 3.4 GB with the default "Clean" preset and 4.4 GB with the texture-heavy "Dirty" preset (5.2 GB and 6.2 GB in total including Windows and Daz Studio), so an 8 GB card should have enough room for both. On a laptop with a 6 GB RTX 3060, even the texture-heavy "Dirty" preset rendered on the GPU (about 3.3 GB VRAM in use, scene only, no figures added). Figures, clothing, hair and props you add to the scene need additional VRAM on top of this; in our test, one Genesis 9 figure in a robot suit (no hair) raised the total from 5.2 GB to 6.4 GB with the "Clean" preset.

What's included

- 1 complete environment scene (load one file, everything is in place), with 4 cameras
- 3 hierarchical material presets: "Clean" (blue, the default the scene loads with), "Clean Red" and "Dirty" (worn surfaces, grime and graffiti). Select the root node of the scene, then apply a preset.
- Every object is a separate node in one clean hierarchy (hall → capsule block → module → capsule → door, bedding, fittings …), so you can move, hide or replace anything. Repeated items are Daz instances of one source, which keeps the scene light.

Capsule block

- 16 two-high capsules in 8 modules; entries alternate between the two aisles
- Each capsule: sliding door with logo (a separate node; there is no open/close dial, move the node to open or close it), card reader with display and free/occupied status light, illuminated capsule number
- 7 capsules occupied (door closed), 9 free (door open)
- Upper capsules: step chest with 4 card-locked drawers and a handrail
- Lower capsules: card-locked luggage drawer in the base

Inside each capsule

- Mattress, pillow and zipped duvet
- Padded headboard with LED light strip
- Touch panel with screen, two recessed reading spots, mirror
- Wall niches with warm LED lighting, sunk tray beside the mattress

Hall

- 96 lockers in two function walls, each with a status indicator; benches and niche lights
- Entrance and exit doors with logos, two cross-aisle doors with signs
- Wall panels, ceiling light panels, floor panels, pipe runs and an orange floor guide system
- 50 graffiti and tag decals (visible in the "Dirty" preset, hidden in the clean presets)

Dimensions and geometry

- Hall approx. 14.4 m x 9.3 m, ceiling height 2.75 m; capsule interior approx. 1 m x 2 m x 1 m
- 842 nodes (481 meshes), 1,620,987 polygons

Materials and textures

- Iray Uber materials with PBR maps (base colour, roughness, normal, alpha)
- 161 texture files, up to 4096 x 4096 px. Most of them belong to the "Dirty" preset: its grime is baked individually for each surface in the hall instead of using tiling textures, so no dirt pattern repeats. The clean presets use 14.
- Lights, screens and status LEDs are emissive surfaces; their brightness can be adjusted in the Surfaces pane (Emission)

Compatibility and notes

- Daz Studio 4.24, NVIDIA Iray
- No figures, plugins or other products required
- Not set up for Filament or 3Delight
- Smart Content metadata and Content Library icons included

Installation

With Daz Install Manager (DIM), recommended:

- Copy the downloaded ZIP file unchanged, without extracting it and without renaming it, into your DIM download folder, the "Package Archive" folder (DIM: gear icon > Advanced Settings > Downloads).
- Restart DIM. The package appears in the "Ready to Install" tab.
- Click Install. DIM installs the files into your content library and registers the Smart Content data.

Manual installation:

- Open the ZIP and extract the contents of the "Content" folder into your Daz content library (e.g. "My DAZ 3D Library").
- Start Daz Studio. If the product does not show up in Smart Content, use Content DB Maintenance > Re-Import Metadata.
- To load: In Smart Content, go to Environments > Architecture > Interior and double-click "HashimotoCapsuleHotel". In the folder-based Content Library you find it under Environments > Architecture > xanathon > HashimotoCapsuleHotel. The material presets are in Smart Content under Materials > Iray > Architecture, or in the folder "Materials > Iray" next to the scene.
