Biography.
Luke Skywalker is a fictional character and the protagonist of the original trilogy of the science fiction saga Star Wars. Hailing from the Polis Massa asteroid colony, he is the only son of Anakin Skywalker and Senator Padme Amidala (former Queen from the planet Naboo). He has a twin sister named Leia Organa, from whom he was separated at birth in order to hide and protect him from Emperor Palpatine (Darth Sidious) and the Galactic Empire. His brother-in-law and his battle partner is called Han Solo, famous smuggler and member of the Rebel Alliance.
After the filming of the first 6 episodes of the Star Wars film saga, Luke's life as well as the other characters were based on a canonical comic series launched by George Lucas, which became part of the Star Expanded Universe. Wars, today known as "Legends" and excluded from the Canon by Disney.
Luke Skywalker was placed at no. 54 on Empire magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Movie Characters of All Time".
George Lucas was originally going to name the character Luke Starkiller while writing the script for the movie Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, however he ultimately did not like the last name because he says it sounded aggressive and inappropriate. So in the end, during production, Lucas changed Luke's last name to "Skywalker".
Character Story:
Luke Skywalker is a key character, a kind of redeemer or chosen one, an intuitive cognizant of the Force, whose role escalates as a powerful teacher capable of remaking the Jedi Order, and as one of the Republic's greatest war heroes. He is considered the last Jedi Knight and one of the most powerful of all time.
Luke Skywalker was a legendary war hero and Jedi who founded the New Jedi Order. He was the son of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and Senator Padme Amidala of Naboo, and the twin brother of Leia Organa. He joined the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the greatest feat of his was destroying the first Death Star. He was also responsible for influencing Darth Vader, the Sith Lord who fathered him, to kill Emperor Palpatine, paving the way for the fall of the Galactic Empire and the formation of the New Republic. He was later promoted to general, though he left the military to become an influential member of the New Republic and a prominent Jedi Master.
Trained in the ways of the Force by Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda, Luke eventually left the life of a soldier and established a Jedi Praxeum to create the New Jedi Order that would function as the guardians and peacemakers of the New Republic, to become as his teacher Obi-Wan said: "the first of the new Jedi". He married fellow Jedi Mara Jade, with whom he had a son, Ben Skywalker. In the year 36 ABY Luke officially assumed the title of Grand Master of the New Jedi Order. He also helped create the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances after the Yuuzhan Vong War. Skywalker also served during the Dark Nest Crisis, the Swarm War, and the Galactic Alliance-Confederacy War.
