Scene Master Pro - Import Only What You Need

Scene Master Pro - Import Only What You Need

IMPORT ONLY WHAT YOU NEED, FROM ANY SCENE

You have hundreds of saved scenes. When you need one character, one pose or one set of lights from one of them, opening that file loads everything and replaces your work. Scene Master Pro reads a .duf without loading it, shows what it holds grouped by category, and brings only the items you select into the scene you are working on.

WHY SCENE MASTER PRO IS A SEPARATE PRODUCT (PLEASE READ IF YOU OWN SCENE MASTER)

Scene Master Pro is not an update to Scene Master. For a long time, Scene Master was a simple script used in my personal project; it was improved over time, and this time, it has been rewritten from scratch. It is a ground-up rebuild as a native plugin, with a new engine and a much larger toolset, so it ships as its own product at its own price. Here is the honest reasoning, so the choice is clear and yours:

- Scene Master is still sold, still works and is still supported. Nothing you bought is taken away. It keeps receiving fixes: version 1.3.1, released on October 13, 2026, fixes poses that applied nothing on many Genesis 8 and Genesis 9 characters, brings the expression and pose controls along with the pose, and lets DAZ Studio 6 open scenes with very large dForce simulation data. Owners get it as a free update.
- Scene Master Pro is a different kind of product. Scene Master is a DAZ Script dialog; a script cannot dock into DAZ Studio, cannot keep a library of your scenes indexed in the background, and cannot reach the parts of DAZ Studio needed to rebuild a complete character or convert a pose between Genesis 8 and Genesis 9. Scene Master Pro is built on the DAZ Studio SDK, which is what makes those features possible. That is a new product, not a free feature drop.
- The two serve different users. Scene Master runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. Scene Master Pro is a native plugin and runs only on Windows 64-bit. Keeping them separate means Mac and Linux users keep a supported Scene Master, and owners are never forced to buy again to keep what they have.

In short: Scene Master is the simple, proven tool for every platform. Scene Master Pro is the full studio for Windows.

A REAL PANE, NOT A DIALOG

Scene Master Pro docks into DAZ Studio like any built-in pane (Window > Panes (Tabs) > Scene Master Pro). It stays open while you work, and it adapts to a narrow dock: the categories turn into a row of buttons and the folder tree opens from a button.

THE WHOLE CHARACTER, REBUILT

Import Character adds a figure to your scene exactly as it was saved: shape and morphs, skin and materials (layered textures made in the Layered Image Editor included), every wearable fitted to it, and its pose and expression. Each part has its own switch, so you can bring a character's shape without its clothes, or its clothes and skin without its pose. Select several characters and they are imported one after the other. The new figure lands at the scene origin, or at its saved position with "Keep source position". Your scene settings are not touched.

POSES BY PARTS, ACROSS GENERATIONS

Apply a saved pose to the figure selected in your scene, choosing the parts: Body, Hands, Expression. Your figure stays where you placed it; only the body moves. A Genesis 8 or Genesis 8.1 pose converts to Genesis 9, and a Genesis 9 pose to Genesis 8 or 8.1, as you apply it. The target line tells you which figure receives the pose and whether it is converted.

WEARABLES THAT FIT

Bring clothing and hair from any scene and Fit them to the figure you select. The list shows which figure each piece was made for. Choose whether the piece brings its saved materials and its fit morphs and adjustments.

A SCENE LIBRARY, BUILT FROM YOUR FOLDERS

Add your scene folders in the Folders tab. Only those folders are indexed, in the background, while you keep working; nothing else is indexed. Browse them in a folder tree, or use Favorites, Recent and the search box. Scenes show as a grid or a list with their thumbnails, in three sizes (S, M, L). Each folder shows its scene and file counts and its status, with Rescan, Remove and Stop.

EXPLORE CONTENTS, THEN PICK

Double click a scene (or press Enter, or choose Explore Contents) and Scene Master Pro reads it and opens its contents: eight categories with their counts, a filter box, and the options of the selected items. Back, Backspace and the breadcrumb return you to the same folder.

ENVIRONMENTS ARRIVE ORGANIZED

Props & Assets shows the scene's groups as a tree, like the Scene pane of DAZ Studio, with a check box on every row and the number of pieces in each group. Check a whole group, or open it and check just a few pieces. With Keep groups (on by default) the pieces arrive inside the same groups, nested as they were and at the same place; a group checked only in part brings only the checked pieces. Turn Keep groups off to bring the pieces loose, still at their saved position. Instances are listed as props too: an instance arrives as an instance, at its place, and brings the object it shows when you did not check that object.

KEEP YOUR SCENES OUT OF THE CONTENT LIBRARY, AND STILL SEE THEM

Many users keep their saved scenes in a folder mapped in the Content Library just to browse them with thumbnails. When that folder grows large, saving a new scene into it can take minutes and DAZ Studio stops responding while it updates its content database (CMS). Scene Master Pro keeps its own index of the folders you add in its Folders tab, separate from the DAZ Studio content database, so your scene folders do not need to be content directories at all. Keep them outside the Content Library, save to them at normal speed, and still browse every scene with its thumbnail, folder tree, Favorites, Recent and search.

MERGE WITHOUT LOSING YOUR RENDER SETTINGS

Merging a saved scene into your work also brings its Environment, Tonemapper and render settings, which replace yours. The usual workaround is to save a scene subset first, unchecking those nodes. With Scene Master Pro you pick the items you want, and render settings come only when you check them in Render Settings, each part on its own: render settings, Tonemapper, Environment.

OPEN OR MERGE THE WHOLE SCENE, TOO

When you do want everything, right click a scene for Open as New Scene or Merge into Scene, or use the Open and Merge buttons above its contents. The same menu adds the scene to Favorites or opens its folder in Windows Explorer.

SAFE TO USE ON YOUR WORK

Every import is a single Edit > Undo entry (one per character when you import several). Missing textures or assets are listed at the end instead of stopping the import. Pieces saved with a dForce drape come with a note when they need Simulate again.

FEATURES

- Native, dockable pane for DAZ Studio 4 and DAZ Studio 6 (Windows 64-bit).
- Scene library from your own folders: folder tree, Favorites, Recent and search.
- Background indexing of the folders you add; only those folders are read.
- Grid or list view with scene thumbnails in three sizes (S, M, L).
- Explore Contents: reads any .duf without loading it and lists what it holds in eight categories: Characters, Poses, Wearables, Props & Assets, Lights, Cameras, Materials, Render Settings.
- Import Character: shape and morphs, skin and materials (layered textures included), wearables, pose and expression, each with its own switch.
- Several characters imported one after the other, from one click.
- Apply Pose by parts: Body, Hands, Expression. Your figure stays where you placed it.
- Pose conversion between Genesis 8 / 8.1 and Genesis 9 as you apply it.
- Wearables: Fit to the figure you select, with or without their materials and fit morphs.
- Props & Assets as a tree of the scene's groups, with check boxes: bring a whole group or just a few pieces.
- Keep groups: the pieces arrive inside the same groups, nested as they were; a partly checked group brings only the checked pieces.
- Instances listed and imported as props, with the object they show brought along when needed.
- Props & Assets, Lights and Cameras: keep the saved position or bring them to the origin; props with or without their materials.
- Emissive objects (light panels, screens) also listed under Lights.
- Materials: apply a saved surface to the surface you select.
- Render Settings: render settings, Tonemapper and Environment, each one optional.
- Open as New Scene and Merge into Scene from the right click menu or the scene header.
- Add to Favorites and Open Containing Folder from the right click menu.
- Check boxes in Props & Assets, Ctrl and Shift click in the other lists to select several items; double click runs the action.
- One Edit > Undo entry per import (one per character); missing assets are reported, not fatal.
- Open File… reads any .duf, also outside your folders.
• Its own scene index, separate from the DAZ Studio content database (CMS): your scene folders do not need to be content directories, so saving new scenes into them is not slowed by a database update.
• No more scene subsets just to keep your render settings: merging items never replaces your Environment, Tonemapper or render settings unless you check them.

SCENE MASTER VS SCENE MASTER PRO

- Interface: Scene Master, a dialog window. Scene Master Pro, a dockable pane.
- Scene library with folder tree, thumbnails (S, M, L), Favorites, Recent and search: Pro only.
- Background indexing of your folders: Pro only.
- Open or merge a whole scene from the library: Pro only.
- Complete characters (shape and morphs, skin and layered textures, wearables, pose): Pro only.
- Poses: Scene Master applies the whole pose. Scene Master Pro applies Body, Hands and Expression separately.
- Pose conversion between Genesis 8 / 8.1 and Genesis 9: Pro only.
- Props, wearables with Fit, lights, cameras, materials and render settings: both.
- Props in their groups (a tree of the scene's groups, with Keep groups): Pro only. Scene Master lists the props flat and brings them without their groups.
- DAZ Studio 4 and 6: both.
- Operating system: Scene Master runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. Scene Master Pro runs on Windows 64-bit.

REQUIREMENTS

- Windows 64-bit. Scene Master Pro is a native plugin; it does not run on macOS or Linux.
- DAZ Studio 4.x or DAZ Studio 6. Two plugin files ship: SceneMasterPro.dll for DAZ Studio 4.x and dsp_scenemasterpro.dll for DAZ Studio 6. Each DAZ Studio loads only its own file. The DAZ Studio 6 plugin is built with the DAZ Studio 6 SDK, which is still in beta.
- Pose conversion covers Genesis 8, Genesis 8.1 and Genesis 9, and needs the base figure of the pose's generation installed (Genesis 8 or Genesis 9). Across generations the body and hand rotations are converted; expressions apply within the same generation.
- Dressing a figure of one generation with clothing made for another (for example Genesis 8 clothing on Genesis 9) is not supported.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

- Scene Master Pro plugin for DAZ Studio 4.x (SceneMasterPro.dll).
- Scene Master Pro plugin for DAZ Studio 6 (dsp_scenemasterpro.dll).
- DAZ Install Manager package (IM00500013-01_SceneMasterPro.zip with its .dsx).
- Windows installer (SceneMasterPro-1.0.0-Setup.exe): pick your DAZ Studio folder and it copies the matching plugin.
