The Phantom of the Opera (French: Le Fantôme de l'Opéra) is a novel by French author Gaston Leroux. It was first published as a serial in Le Gaulois from 23 September 1909 to 8 January 1910, and was released in volume form in late March 1910 by Pierre Lafitte. The novel is partly inspired by historical events at the Paris Opera during the nineteenth century. It has been successfully adapted into various stage and film adaptations, most notable of which are the 1925 film depiction featuring Lon Chaney, and Andrew Lloyd Webber's 1986 musical.As in "The Phantom of the Opera," there is an underground lake below the opera house. The architect Charles Garnier first discovered that the ground beneath the area was moist and water-rich, and took advantage of the situation and built a concrete water cellar to resist the pressure of water seepage.
With today's product, we are launching a three-part series dedicated to the phantom's hiding place in the depths of the underground of the Paris Opera. In the first part, we will roam the underground lake, which is inspired not only by the labyrinth described in the book, but also by a real water reservoir, which is located under the opera house. It is therefore an artificial underground cellar flooded by water, damaged or ruined in many places, opening passages to the Paris catacombs or sewers here and there. If we manage to find our way through an underground flooded maze, we may find the phantom's hiding place itself, to which the next part of this series will be dedicated.
