Once you have bought the perfect 3D content for your scene and set everything up, dissatisfaction soon creeps in, as you realize that you have not quite replicated the scene you had originally envisioned. There is also the challenge that the content you have chosen does not stand out; it is been used by dozens of other artists already.
- Maybe the clothing is looking a little dull or the existing texture just does not work?
- The skin of a character is a little lack-luster or has the wrong tone or color?
- What about adding some magic or energy effects to the scene?
- It is not always sunny in cyberspace, so how about some realistic rain and fog?
All in all you may not have the true look and feel of the scene you wanted from your mind, but there is a cost-effective way to change that by using GIMP. GIMP is a free and open-source alternative to Photoshop.
This tutorial by https://www.deviantart.com/linwelly/gallery taches how you can utilize GIMP to customize some of the most fundamental aspects of your DAZ Studio scene.
We will also take a look at your older DAZ content; learn how to brush it up with GIMP and make it shiny new by applying new blended unique textures.

About the Presenter : Annette Stenzel (Linwelly)
My name is Annette Stenzel, though I am better known as Linwelly. I live with my husband, two children, and two rabbits in Germany near Cologne.
After a journey through diverse art forms such as drawing, watercolor, calligraphy, photography, and even sewing medieval costumes, I discovered DAZ Studio in December 2014 and it quickly became my favorite creative tool. One year later I joined the DAZ forums Community Volunteers to return some of the kind help that I received, which I still receive whenever I ask!
With a great love for fairy-tale and medieval fantasy I delved deep into the possibilities of the DS program. Telling a story with my images was always a major interest, which later turned into telling stories with sequential art. My focus has turned more from fantasy art to sci-fi. Creating images of places around the world has been another challenge I enjoy very much.
Since February 2017 I have published my comic Taiduo online through the Webtoon hosting platform, with a new episode every other week.
Included in my CGI toolbox is Gimp for post-work, which has become more important over time. Now I enjoy combining different art forms to make illustrations for comics, character design, and book covers.
